Disappointed democrats lost both the special elections that took place today.
The guy in Georgia spent tons of money (so did the republican he was running against) and still lost.
I know the only reason these seats were open was because they were considered "safe" republican seats, so for democrats to even come as close as they did is probably amazing.
But right now it's just disappointing.
If the democrats had won these seats, that would have made it much more likely some republicans would defect from supporting the Senate version of the health care bill.
Very tired tonight and sad.
Also worried: the car did a weird thing today, flashing a thermometer (there's no actual temp gauge, just the idiot light) as if the engine was overheating, and losing speed though the RPMs stayed up. I pulled off onto the shoulder and shut off the engine, and when I restarted it a minute later (having shut off the ac) it ran fine, but it's worrisome. I can't afford to take it to a shop.
